Geneva and the surrounding wetlands of Seminole County are defined by a complex hydrology where the Econlockhatchee River and Saint Johns River converge. The landscape is dotted with numerous small lakes, including Lake Geneva, Lake Proctor, and Still Lake, which influenced the early settlement patterns of Buda and Snow Hill. A series of archaeological and terrain features, such as the Palmer-Taylor Mound and Noah Mound, suggest a long history of human activity along the riverbanks near Buzzard Roost.
