Germantown Hills and the western outskirts of Metamora characterize this portion of Woodford County, where residential expansion meets the dissected upland terrain overlooking the Illinois River valley. The landscape is defined by the deep drainage of Partridge Cr, Blue Cr, and Wolf Cr, which carve through the loess-covered bluffs. Historical continuity is evident in the numerous burial sites and religious landmarks that dot the area, including the Lourdes Church and a series of family and community cemeteries such as Black Partridge Cem and the Winkler Cem.
