About this map

The Gila River corridor defines the geography of this Graham County landscape, where the Gila Valley transitions into the rugged drainage systems of McKinney Canyon and Dutch Pasture Canyon. The settlement of Geronimo serves as a central point along Us-70, positioned near the confluence of the river and Goodwin Wash. This area preserves several localized historical markers, including the Emery Cem and Hinton Cem located near the small community of Emery. The road network, including River RD and Monty Blue RD, follows the natural contours of the valley floor, connecting the scattered ranching and residential sites. To the northwest, the community of Bylas sits near the river's edge, highlighting the long-standing relationship between the region's inhabitants and the critical water source of the Gila River.
