The Cabinet Mountains define this high-elevation landscape, where the Kaniksu National Forest meets the Kootenai National Forest. This terrain is characterized by massive ridgelines and deep glacial cirques, most notably around Goat Peak and Baree Mtn. The watershed is dominated by the Cabinet Divide S and Cabinet Divide E, which channel snowmelt into a network of alpine basins including Wanless Lake, Baree Lake, and the Bear Lakes.
