About this map

Clearwater National Forest encompasses this section of Idaho’s remote backcountry, defined by the winding course of Kelly Creek and its many tributaries. By the mid-1990s, the area remained a landscape of ridges and drainages, where human presence was concentrated around specialized forest service infrastructure and historical landmarks. The Old Kelly Creek Work Center sits along the northern banks of the creek, while the presence of the Sheepcraft and Gorman Grave Site provides a poignant connection to the early settlers and workers of this high-elevation terrain.
