Gotebo anchor the western edge of this agricultural landscape in Kiowa County, where the plains are defined by an extensive network of water management projects. The area is marked by numerous flood control structures along Rainy Mountain Creek and its tributaries, including the Rainy Mountain Creek Site 29 Reservoir and Rainy Mountain Creek Site 5 Reservoir. These reservoirs, along with the Oak Creek Site 1 Reservoir near the northern boundary, illustrate the 20th-century transformation of the Oklahoma drainage system to support local farming.
