Headquarters Mtn, Walsh Mtn, and Brown Mtn rise sharply above the Greer County plains, overlooking the settlement of Granite and the wide, meandering channel of the Elm Fork Red River. The local geography is defined by this contrast between the rocky elevations and the low-lying river valley, where Tittle Cr feeds into the larger waterway near Horseshoe Lake. To the southwest, the northern outskirts of Mangum appear, connected to the surrounding countryside by a rigid grid of rural roads like N1960 Rd. This modern USGS survey preserves the locations of local landmarks such as Rock Cem and Lutheran Cem, alongside the concentrated street plan of Granite, which includes a central Po and a network of numbered streets and avenues nestled at the foot of the mountains.
