The National Radio Astronomy Observatory defines this highland landscape near the village of Green Bank. The facility’s specialized infrastructure, including several telescopes, an Antenna, and the Observatory Reservation Boundary, is set against the backdrop of the Monongahela National Forest. Settlement is concentrated along the narrow valley floor of Deer Creek, where the communities of Arbovale and Boyer sit beneath the high ridges of Mountain and Allegheny Ridge.
