Hahns Peak stands as the dominant landmark of this high-country landscape, crowned by the Hahns Peak Lookout and situated near the small settlements of Columbine and Hahns Peak. The area is a center for mountain recreation and early Colorado history, with the Hahns Peak Cem providing a genealogical record of the region's pioneers. Much of the terrain is managed within the Routt National Forest, characterized by numerous named peaks like Iron Mountain, Beryl Mountain, and Grouse Mountain.
