About this map

The striking geological formations of the Waterpocket Fold dominate this 1980s landscape, marking the transition between the high desert plateaus and the encroaching waters of the Colorado River system. Most of the terrain is protected within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, where the rising waters of Lake Powell have filled deep sandstone drainages to create Bullfrog Bay and Halls Creek Bay.
