Midway and the western outskirts of Hamilton are defined by a network of seasonal watercourses and conservation projects in this 2012 study of the Central Texas landscape. The terrain is deeply carved by drainage systems including Cowhouse Creek, S Mesquite Creek, and Little Cowhouse Creek, which feed into numerous managed water bodies like the Soil Conservation Service Site 4 Reservoir and Joseph Lake.
