Hayden Peak and Mt Agassiz anchor this high-elevation landscape where the boundaries of Wasatch National Forest and Ashley National Forest meet. The terrain is defined by a series of glacial cirques and basins, most notably the Naturalist Basin and West Basin, which harbor dozens of alpine lakes such as Kermsuh Lake and Amethyst Basin. The division between Summit and Duchesne counties follows the jagged ridgelines, marking a significant hydrological and political divide in the High Uintas.
