To the east and south, the terrain rises sharply toward the Helena National Forest and the prominent peak of Hoodoo Mountain. Notable local identifiers include a lone Grave north of the Canarway Canal and the Cem just outside the main settlement. The geography is deeply carved by drainage systems such as Roselle Mine Gulch and Puzzle Gulch, while the southern reaches are dominated by the various branches of Cottonwood Creek, including Wet Cottonwood Creek and Dry Cottonwood Creek.
