Prescott National Forest dominates the eastern half of this landscape, where the high elevations of the Black Hills create a network of canyons and peaks. The transition from the residential expansion of Prescott Valley in the west to the high-country terrain of Mingus Mountain and Hickey Mountain illustrates the complex topography of central Arizona. A dense network of trails, including the Yeager Canyon Trail and Gaddes Trail, provides access to deep drainages like Haywood Canyon and Lang Canyon.
