The Wasatch National Forest dominates this high-altitude landscape in Summit County, where the upper reaches of the Weber River collect from numerous mountain tributaries. The area is defined by sharp topographic transitions between the Elkhorn Divide and the Mahogany Hills, creating a complex network of basins and canyons. Local hydrology is centered around the Hidden Lake and Shingle Mill Lake, which feed the drainages of Shingle Mill Creek and Smith and Morehouse Creek.
