Hildreth Peak rises over the backcountry of the Los Padres National Forest, marking a landscape defined by deep drainages and thermal springs north of the Santa Ynez Mountains. The southern portion of the area follows the winding course of the Santa Ynez River, where seasonal water and accessible terrain supported the small settlements at P-Bar Flats and Horse Canyon.
