Big Jacks Creek Wilderness encompasses much of this Idaho landscape, where high plateaus are bisected by deep drainage systems. The hydrologic network is central to the area's character, featuring several federally protected waterways including the Cottonwood Creek Wild and Scenic River, the Duncan Creek Wild and Scenic River, and the Wickahoney Creek Wild and Scenic River. These canyons provide a stark contrast to the surrounding flats of Hill Pasture.

Evidence of historical land use for ranching is seen in the scattered water sources and reservoirs, such as Harveys V Reservoir, Hicks Springs, and Jimmy Cappel Spring. Named landmarks like Harvey Point, Willies Point, and Hill Pasture Point overlook the rugged descent into Dry Canyon and Willies Canyon. The only significant thoroughfare shown is Battle Creek Rd, which skirts the southeastern corner of this remote Owyhee County terrain.
