The Green River carves a winding course through this desert landscape, forming the deep trenches of Labyrinth Canyon and Stillwater Canyon. Along its banks, the river creates isolated flats known as bottoms, including Upheaval Bottom, Hardscrabble Bottom, and Potato Bottom. These low-lying areas contrast sharply with the towering elevations of Bighorn Mesa and the Orange Cliffs that dominate the horizon.
