1947 Map of Hyatt

USGS Topo · Published 1947

About this map

The settlement of Hyatt and the neighboring Fields P.O. anchor this mid-century survey of the southwest Louisiana timberlands. The landscape is defined by the remnants of industrial timber extraction, most notably the extensive network of the Old Logging Railroad that once navigated the dense pinewoods and bottomlands. These routes crisscross the terrain alongside several major watercourses, including Bear Head Creek and Brushy Creek, which drain toward the south.
