Cibola National Forest encompasses much of this high-elevation landscape in Socorro County, dominated by the prominent peaks of the Gallinas Mountains. The terrain is defined by a series of significant drainages including Jaramillo Canyon in the northwest and the extensive Long Canyon that cuts through the center of the forest lands. This 2020 survey reveals a land managed for water resources in a semi-arid environment, with numerous named tanks such as Rene Tank, West Tank, and Pinto Tank distributed across the sections to support local livestock or wildlife.
