About this map

The international border between the Canada United States and Saskatchewan Montana defines the northern edge of this landscape in Blaine Co. This area of the Montana high plains is characterized by its drainage patterns and prominent upland features. The East Fork Battle Creek winds through the southern portion of the quadrangle, carving a path beneath the elevated terrain of Cherry Ridge and West Cherry Ridge. North of these ridges, the land is marked by Irvins Coulee, which provides a clear record of the region's topographical transition toward the Canadian border. The map is a provisional study produced by the U.S. Geological Survey using 1975 aerial photography, capturing the remote and sparsely settled character of the borderlands during the late twentieth century.
