The Choctawhatchee River winds through the heart of this landscape, its path marked by distinct features like the Alberson Stretch and the James Riley Jim-Paul Bridge. Straddling the Alabama-Florida state line and the border of Geneva and Holmes counties, the area is characterized by a low-lying, water-rich terrain. Numerous creeks and branches such as Ginhouse Br, Sikes Cr, and Whitewater Br feed into the river system, creating a complex network of wetlands that includes Blackfish Lake, Chapman Lake, and Blue Lake.
