Superior National Forest encompasses the remote water-dominated landscape along the international border between Minnesota and Canada. The region is defined by a complex network of interconnected waterways, where the irregular shoreline of Crooked Lake flows into Thursday Bay and Wednesday Bay. These larger bodies are surrounded by smaller interior lakes such as Wabosons Lake, Sash Lake, and the aptly named Sauna Lake, illustrating a terrain where land and water are inextricably linked.
