Manistee National Forest encompasses much of this glacial landscape in Grand Traverse County, where a complex network of kettle lakes and streams defines the local geography. The Boardman River and its tributaries, including the S Br Boardman River and Carpenter Cr, move through the southern half of the quadrangle, which also features the Brown Bridge Pond. The terrain is marked by significant recreational infrastructure, notably the extensive Vasa Pathway and portions of the North Country National Scenic Trail. Settlement is concentrated around named water bodies like Spider Lake, Rennie Lake, and the small community at Devils Elbow. For local historians and genealogists, the map preserves the location of the Northrup Grave near the southern boundary and numerous family-named roads such as Wheeler Oaks Rd and Albert Courtade Rd that speak to the area's rural development.
