1997 Map of Jumbo Mountain

About this map

The Continental Divide defines the western edge of this high-elevation landscape, marking the rugged boundary between Beaverhead National Forest in Montana and Salmon National Forest in Idaho. At the center of the region, Jumbo Mountain rises above a series of drainages, including the headwaters of Little Moosehorn Creek and Rock Creek. This 1990s revision reveals a terrain primarily shaped by resource management and recreation, evidenced by the Twin Lakes Guard Station and the nearby Twin Lakes Campground. Further south, the map documents industrial history at the Slag-a-melt Mine, situated near the head of Slag-a-melt Creek. Significant water features like Twin Lakes and Big Lake are central landmarks, with drainage systems such as Big Swamp Cr and Sawmill Creek carving through the steep topography of the Bitterroot Range.
