Fishlake National Forest encompasses much of this high-elevation terrain where the border of Beaver and Iron Counties meets. The landscape is defined by the sharp verticality of the Hurricane Cliffs and the tight enclosure of The Narrows, illustrating the dramatic geologic transition between the Colorado Plateau and the Great Basin. This 2014 survey documents a network of canyons and washes, such as Kane Canyon and Fremont Canyon, that historically served as crucial drainage and passage routes through the arid southwest Utah mountains.
