Keg Mtn dominates the southern half of this Juab County landscape, rising above a network of primitive desert roads and vital water points. The map documents a rugged high-desert environment where seasonal drainages like Slow Elk Wash and Dead Ox Wash carve through the basin floor toward the Slow Elk Hills in the northeast. Transportation across this arid terrain is defined by historic corridors such as Keg Pass Rd, which winds through the namesake Keg Pass, and Flint Spring Rd. The survival of the few reliable water sources, including Flint Spring and Keg Spring, has long dictated movement and land use in this isolated stretch of the Great Basin. This 2020 survey provides a modern look at the remote topography and naming conventions of this sparsely populated region of Utah.
