The Satilla River dominates this coastal Georgia landscape, its wide channel and numerous man-made bypasses like Bailey Cut and Dover Cut illustrating the importance of navigation along the Camden County shoreline. This area is a complex network of marsh and high ground, where large landmasses such as Floyds Neck and African Island are separated by tidal channels and creeks. The coastal character is further defined by the northern reaches of the Cumberland Island National Seashore and the Cumberland River.
