Kom Vo and Schuk Cowlik are central points of settlement in this arid section of Pima County, situated at the convergence of several significant desert drainages. The landscape is defined by the broad Quijotoa Valley to the north and the Kom Vo Valley to the south, where the intermittent San Simon Wash and Vamori Wash travel across the desert floor. The orientation of the land is further established by the Kupk Hills and the winding path of Indian Rte 21, which connects the small communities of Tatk Kam Vo and Murk. This 2011 survey documents a traditional landscape where habitation remains closely tied to the natural watercourses, even as modern road systems like Indian Rte 21 provide the primary infrastructure for the district.
