The international border between the United States and Mexico bisects this arid landscape, defining the southern limit of the Chukut Kuk District in Pima County. The topography is dominated by the La Lesna Mountains, rising sharply from the surrounding desert floor to the prominent La Lesna Peak. This 2018 survey reveals a sparsely populated terrain where human presence is concentrated in small settlements such as Sivili Chuchg, Ak Komelik, and Tatum Vo. The transition from the rugged mountain slopes to the expansive flatlands of The Great Plain highlights the geographic isolation of the region. Transportation is limited to a few arterial routes, most notably Ind Ser Rt 12, which serves as a primary connector through the high-desert environment of the Tohono O'odham Nation lands.
