2021 Map of La Lesna Mountains

USGS Topo · Published 2021

About this map

The international border between the United States of America and Estados Unidos Mexicanos cuts diagonally across this high-desert landscape in Pima County. Rising from the surrounding basins, the La Lesna Mountains culminate at La Lesna Peak, providing a dramatic backdrop to the dispersed settlements of the Tohono O'odham Nation. These small communities, including Ak Komelik and Sivili Chuchg, are connected by a network of local roads and the more prominent Ind Ser Rt 12. To the northwest, the terrain levels out into the aptly named Great Plain, where subtle drainage patterns reveal the arid nature of the environment. The map also records Tatum Vo situated near the southern boundary, reflecting the unique cultural and political geography of this borderland region.
