The central portion of the map is defined by the drainage of Pamunkey Creek and its many tributaries like Terrys Run, which flow toward the reservoir. While modern developments appear near the water, much of the interior remains characterized by agricultural tracts and farm roads such as Matthews Hill Rd and Woodlawn Farm Dr. This area provides a look at the transition between the rolling inland topography and the large-scale water management projects that reshaped the local geography in the late 20th century.
