Sage Creek Colony and the surrounding Liberty County landscape are defined by a network of drainage coulees and scattered ranching operations. The area’s educational history is anchored by the site of the Laird School (Historical), located near the intersection of Laird Rd and Flat Coulee Co Rd. The terrain is deeply incised by features such as Kinreed Coulee, Coal Coulee, and Chicken Coulee, which channel water toward Laird Creek and Sage Creek.
