Wapiti Ridge dominates the southern half of this high-altitude landscape, located within the protected boundaries of the Shoshone National Forest and the Washakie Wilderness. The hydrology of the area is defined by the northward-flowing Elk Fork, which collects numerous tributaries like Cabin Creek and Bloom Creek as it carves through the steep terrain. Notable landmarks include the dramatic Rampart Falls and the deeply incised Bear Gulch in the northern reaches of the quadrangle.
