Lake Fulmor and the high ridges of the San Jacinto Mountains define this section of the San Bernardino National Forest as it appeared in 2018. The landscape is characterized by its high-altitude flats and mountain peaks, including the prominent Ranger Peak and Indian Mtn. Evidence of early settlement and cattle grazing patterns remains in the naming of several meadows, such as Poppet Flat, McMullen Flat, and Hungry Hollow.
