Norwegian Grove Cem and other burial grounds such as Ringsaker Cem and the South Immanuel Cem serve as focal points for the rural landscape of Otter Tail County. This pocket of Minnesota is defined by a dense concentration of glacial kettles and basins, including the central Lake Olaf, Grena Lake, and Lake Jacobs. The township lines of T136N R44W and T136N R43W divide a terrain largely dominated by these water bodies and a network of county roads like Co HWY 30 and Co HWY 28. A singular Velo Airstrip provides one of the few navigational landmarks beyond the numerous family-named lakes, such as Kopperud Lake and Gaards Lake, which likely reflect the Scandinavian heritage of the early settlers who established the surrounding congregations.
