Lake Sutherland lies at the heart of this 2017 survey, surrounded by the small lakeside communities of Maple Grove and Snug Harbor. To the west, the eastern edge of Lake Crescent appears at the base of Mt Storm King, marking the transition into the protected lands of Olympic National Park. The landscape is defined by the sharp rise of the Olympic Mountains, where peaks such as Lizard Head Peak and Mt Baldy tower over the drainage basins of Happy Lake Cr and Hughes Cr.
