Langtry sits at a critical bend in the Rio Grande, marking the international border between the United States and Mexico. This desert landscape is defined by deep incisions in the limestone, where drainages like Pump Canyon, Mile Canyon, and Eagle Nest Cr converge toward the river. Much of the riverfront and its immediate hinterland falls within the Amistad National Recreation Area, protecting a topography of steep-walled canyons and dry vegas.
