De Soto National Forest covers much of this landscape in southern Jones County, where the Piney Woods terrain is defined by a dense network of creek drainages. The small settlement of Lanham sits at the intersection of Dairy Rd and Old Hwy 15 Rd, serving as a central point for the surrounding rural communities. To the east, the community of Crotts is established near Mount Moriah Cem, while Tucker Cem is located further north along the Tuckers Crossing Rd corridor. The geography is heavily influenced by the winding course of the Bogue Homo and its many tributaries, including Glade Branch and Flat Branch. The presence of Jones County Lake and numerous forest roads, such as Widow Landrum Rd and George Boutwell Rd, indicates a region shaped by timber management and local family holdings.
