The Leakey townsite occupies a relatively level valley at the edge of the Texas Hill Country, positioned where the Dry Frio River and numerous spring-fed creeks emerge from a labyrinth of limestone canyons. This 2016 survey illustrates the concentrated residential grid of the county seat, bounded by the Real County Airport and the waters of Leakey Springs. Beyond the town limits, the landscape is defined by a dense network of deep drainages, including Bee Cave Hollow, North York Hollow, and Sedberry Hollow, which feed into major watercourses like Patterson Cr and Buffalo Cr. Local family names and pioneer history are etched into the terrain through features such as Clark Cem and Exile Cem, while the road network, including Ranch Rd 336 and Old Regan Wells Rd, follows the natural contours of the ridges and valley floors.
