Leslie Creek and its many seasonal tributaries carve a complex drainage pattern through this section of Powder River County. The landscape is defined by its dramatic relief, most notably at the southern end of the sheet where Haystack Butte and Two Tree Butte rise above the surrounding drainages. These landmarks provided essential orientation for early travelers and ranchers navigating the broken terrain of the Montana ranchlands.
