Sawpit sits at the northern edge of this high-altitude landscape, where the San Miguel River carves through the terrain below Specie Mesa. Much of the area is contained within the Uncompahgre National Forest, characterized by prominent peaks and expansive mesas. The namesake Little Cone dominates the central portion of the map, while Flat Top Peak rises to the south near the Silver Pick Basin.
