Lake Superior defines the northern edge of this landscape, where the shoreline meets the wooded tracts of the Ottawa National Forest. The prominent headland at Little Girls Point contains the Historic Indian Burial Grounds, a significant cultural landmark near the mouth of Omans Creek. Moving inland, the terrain rises toward Bald Mtn and Point Mtn, drained by a network of waterways including Ikwesens Creek and Scalp Creek.

The Montreal River serves as a natural boundary between Michigan and Wisconsin in the southern portion of the map. This river valley is characterized by winding channels and significant wetlands, such as those near Mud Creek and Moore Creek. A segment of the North Country National Scenic Trl traverses the higher ground, providing a continuous path through the timbered hills and across the various drainages that feed the Great Lakes basin.
