The Beartooth Mountains dominate this high-altitude landscape, straddling the border between Stillwater and Park counties. This 2014 survey documents a glaciated wilderness preserved within the Custer National Forest and Gallatin National Forest. Distinctive ice features like the Grasshopper Glacier and Wolf Glacier feed the headwaters of numerous drainages, including the Stillwater River and Clarks Creek. High peaks such as Storm Mountain and Courthouse Mountain define the topography, while a network of alpine lakes like Corkscrew Lake and Glacier Lake occupy the basins below. The map captures the intricate drainage patterns of the West Rosebud Creek and Stillwater River systems before they exit the high country.
