Isle Royale National Park defines the rugged northern shoreline of Keweenaw County, where the island's prominent spine meets the cold waters of Lake Superior. The landscape is dominated by parallel geologic formations, specifically the high elevations of Minong Ridge and Greenstone Ridge, which dictate the orientation of the coast. Small sheltered inlets like Little Todd Harbor and Todd Cove break the rocky edge, providing rare points of access to the interior wilderness. Farther west along the shore, the map identifies Thomsonite Beach, a site known for its unique mineral deposits. This survey also captures the international boundary where the Canada and United States border runs through the open water north of Gull Rocks.
