Cross River Hall serves as a central landmark in this portion of Koochiching County, situated where County Hwy-72 meets the primary north-south corridor. The landscape is defined by the winding course of the Little Fork River in the northeast and the multiple crossings of the Cross River as it traverses the southern half of the quadrangle. This area of northern Minnesota retains a structured grid of rural roads and section lines, including the prominent Deer River Line and Wisner Trl.
