About this map

Acoma Pueblo Indian Land and the Cibola National Forest meet in this high-altitude landscape, where the rugged southern reaches of the San Mateo Mountains dominate the horizon. In the late 1950s, this area remained largely defined by traditional land use and natural resources, centered around a network of vital water sources such as Lobo Springs, De Armand Spring, and Mirabel Spring. The presence of Tietjen Ranch in the northwest and a solitary Grave in the south reflect the sparse human imprint on these canyons.
