Lone Haystack Mtn rises above a series of deeply etched drainages in this high-desert portion of Carbon County. The landscape is defined by the sinuous path of the North Platte River, which snakes through the southern edge of the survey area near Miller Bnd and Lower Dugway. This rugged terrain is marked by numerous named gulches and draws that reveal the area's hydrology and land-use history, including the evocatively named Dirtyman Draw, Stinkhole Draw, and Wise Dugout Draw.
