Tyndall Field dominates the central landscape of this peninsula, its airfield runways and sprawling military infrastructure clearly defined during the height of the Second World War. Surveyed in 1943 by E. V. Holloway, the map shows a period of intense military activity along the Florida coast. To the northwest, the settlement of San Blas sits near the head of the peninsula, connected to the mainland via a road passing through Long Point.

The coastline is intricately carved by numerous small water bodies, including Pearl Bayou, Shoal Point Bayou, and Laird Bayou which empty into East Bay. To the south, the protective barrier of Crooked Island forms the St Andrew Sound, separating the inner waters from the open Gulf of Mexico. The presence of small inlets like Blind Alligator Bayou and Strange Bayou further east highlights the complex marshy terrain that defined this stretch of Bay County before modern coastal development.
