Clearwater National Forest dominates this landscape along the high divide between Clearwater and Idaho counties. The terrain is defined by a series of prominent summits including Lookout Peak, Raspberry Butte, and Porphyry Peak, which overlook a network of drainage basins. High-altitude water bodies such as Lookout Lake, Gem Lake, and Monroe Lake are tucked into the alpine basins, feeding the headwaters of Marten Creek and Lookout Creek.
